CITY, N.D. (NewsDakoa.com) Crews are razing Faith Lutheran Church in Valley City. Long time church member Steve Nitchke has been photographing the demolition process with a note of sadness. He was married in the church in 1958.

Church member Doug Kratz says something positive will come from this tragedy.

An arsonist searching for money set fire to the church in the early morning hours of October 21 in 2013. The fire weakened the structure too much to repair it.

Once the new Smith Lumber Company building is completed on east Main at the former site of Triple S Livestock, the current Smith Lumber Company building will be razed and construction on the new Faith Lutheran Church will begin at that site.
