CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Rotary Club sponsors the 4 Way Test Essay Contest.  The 4 Way Test is a guideline that Rotarians live by and encourage others to follow the test too.

Dawn Mathias is the local chairperson for the essay contest. She says our local winner was Gabby Cummings’ essay entitled, “In God We Trust”.  Her prize was $100.  Gabby is a student at Valley City High School, her advisor is Kathleen Horner.

Mathias says after being selected as the local winner, her essay was sent on to regional competition where there are 6 winners.  Her essay also won for our region.  The prize was $150.

Cummings essay won at the District level which includes northern Minnesota, northwest Wisconsin, a portion of Ontario, and all of North Dakota.  The prize for winning at the District level is $1100.  She is the Rotary International District 5580 4 Way Test Essay winner.  Her total prize is $1350. 

Mathias thanked the students for submitting some great papers and the teachers that encouraged the students in their writing.

This contest is open to high school juniors and seniors.  Our club accepts essays from VCHS, Litchville Marion, Maple Valley, Barnes County North, Griggs County Central, and Midkota.
