N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public School District’s Bullying Committee has decided that the protocol and policy regarding bullying in the school is effective.

The bullying survey was given to students in the High School, Middle School and Elementary School’s in Jamestown in February of this year. Superintendent Robert Lech announced that at the High School level, 92% of the girls ranked the school environment in the highest two categories. 72% stated they had not been bullied and 19% stated they had been bullied once or twice. The boys had a similar percentage at 91% in the highest two categories. 77% stated they had not been bullied and 14% had been bullied once or twice.

In the Middle School, 84% of girls ranked the school environment in the highest two categories. 56% stated they had not been bullied and 28% stated they had been bullied once or twice. For the boys in the Middle School, 87% ranked the school environment in the two highest categories. 67% stated they had not been bullied and 20% had been bullied once or twice.

Similar scores were in the Elementary Schools according to the surveys. The results varied by grade and age in the schools.

“I believe that these results show that we have a lot of great kids and families in Jamestown that support each other and strive to exhibit high character. I think it also shows us that our prevention education programming and staff are working very hard to educate our kids on bullying.” Lech stated.
