N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On June 10th, Jamestown will hold its primary election in conjunction with the state of North Dakota for the City, County and Jamestown Public Schools open positions.
On the city council, current Jamestown Mayor Katie Andersen will be running for re-election of the four term position. Running against Andersen will be Pam Phillips.
One City Council Member seat is up for election. Running for re-election to the seat is current City Council Member Ramone Gumke. Running in opposition for the seat is Dwaine Heinrich.
Running for re-election on the City Park Board Commissioner is Mike Landscoot. Kevin Miller, Richard Ryan and Larry Knoblich have all filed their petitions to run for the board position. Running for re-election is current Municipal Judge Timothy Ottmar. He will be running unopposed.
For the county, current Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser will be running unopposed for another four year term. State’s Attorney Fritz Fremgen will also be running for re-election unopposed. Three seats are open for the County Commission this year. Running for re-election of these seats are Dale Marks, Craig Neyes and Dennis Ova. Challenger Nellie Degen will be running for one of these seats as well. Running unopposed for the Garrison Diversion Conservancy District will be Geneva Kaiser.
For the Jamestown public schools, there are five open school board seats, but only four individuals on the ballot. There are three city seats open for election. On the ballot will be Robert Toso and Heidi Heim-Larson. There was no other candidate for the third seat. Filing for the two rural seats include Greg Allen and Mindy Schmitz.
Other school board members whose terms will expire in June include Roy Musland, Tonya Ostlie and Shelly Jystad.
Voting will begin at 7:00 AM and go until 7:00 PM at the Jamestown Civic Center.
