CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota) – The Valley City Faith Lutheran Church council met with the congregation Wednesday to get approval for building and financial recommendations of a new church.

The new building design and renderings were presented by building committee chair Keith Hovland and YHR Partners, the architectural firm handling the project. Finance committee chair Scott Johnson also presented a proposed budget. Approximately 90% of funds used to build the new structure will come from insurance money and the land sale where the old building stood.

The approval of the YHR Partners design for the new Faith Lutheran Church building will be a one floor concept with 12,700 square feet, sanctuary seating of 288, fellowship hall, gathering space and offices. It is the goal of the council and the building committee to get in the new church September 2015.

A vote was taken by the congregation and the recommendations were unanimously approved. Before council chair Tory Hart closed the meeting he called it a monumental night for Faith Lutheran Church.

Faith Lutheran Church was destroyed in an arson fire last October.
