N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Great River Energy has stated that they’re getting the plant ready for start-up.
Lyndon Anderson, the Communications Supervisor for Great River Energy, stated that the plant will be firing up the natural gas boilers in July and begin running the turbine generation. The coal boiler is set to be fired up in August. Crews are looking over all the equipment and making sure everything is operational for the fall. Anderson stated that the plant will be commercialized on November 1st this year.
When asked why the plant hasn’t been online since it had been built in 2011, Anderson stated that the recession has impacted electricity use in the region.
“There wasn’t a demand, but demand is now coming back. Also, the addition of an additional steam customer in the spring of 2015 at Dakota Spirit AgEnergy will help with plant economics.” Anderson stated.
