The 2014 State Class B High School Baseball Tourney kicked off Thursday at Jack Brown Stadium. The day started at 11:30am with four games on the slate. The Mustangs of Midkota played the third game of the day going up against the number one seed overall, the Watford City Wolves. Midkota drew first blood but Watford City would score five unanswered and beat the Mustangs 5-1. The Region 7 champs, Watford City, improve to 23-1 and the Region 3 champs, Midkota, drop to 16-5.
Starting pitcher Jayden Grover took the loss, going four innings allowing four runs and striking out seven. Grover drove in the only run for the Mustangs, he was 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Riley Nelson was 2-for-3 for Midkota.
