CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The city of Valley City will be asking the State Water Commission to drop the local cost share for permanent flood protection projects from 25 percent to 15 percent.
City Commissioner Mary Lee Nielson says she and other city officials will be heading to Bismarck on May 29 to make the request. Nielson says the city will also ask the State Water Commission to pay for the engineering costs associated with permanent flood protection construction projects.
The Valley City commission approved of the plan to make those request to the state during a special meeting on May 28.
