(NewsDakota.com) A group of young men have once again tested their own endurance in the elements as they raise funds to battle cancer.

“The Wanderers” were formed last year, and walked from Aberdeen, South Dakota to Oakes and raised over $3,000 for the Dickey County Relay For Life. This year, the group started walking from Fargo on Monday, and plan to finish in Oakes sometime Friday afternoon.

This year’s walk has produced more challenges than the previous year; and not just the distance. Two of the group members have had to pull out of the walk due to illness, and the weather has changed dramatically; from the need to wear long sleeve clothing at the starting point, to fighting the heat.

The group’s founder, Aaron Gabriel, speaks on the difficulties the group has encountered this time around

The group stayed in Kindred Monday night, Sheldon on Tuesday night, and plans to stay in Lisbon Wednesday night and Verona on Thursday night before returning to Oakes sometime Friday afternoon.

So far, the group has raised just over $500. To donate to “The Wanderers”, click here.
