CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Nine people were injured when a tornado struck an oil company crew camp south of Watford City last night. At least eight trailers were destroyed. Patrick Ayd of the Bismarck National Weather Service says the tornado touched down just before 8 pm.

One of the injured was taken to a Minot hospital. Ayd says National Weather Service damage assessment crews will be on the ground in that crew camp after daylight.

The National Weather Service says there’s a severe weather threat in the southwest and central parts of the state today, moving into the northeast by late afternoon. Patrick Ayd with the Weather Service Bismarck office says the main threat from this system will be hail, heavy rain and strong winds.
