N.D (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liners softball team looked impressive in a 8-3 victory over Fargo South in round one of the Eastern Dakota Conference Tournament.
The Hi-Liners started out the game hot and never cooled off. In the bottom of the first, Valley got the scoring going on a Madison McDaniel sacrifice fly that drove in Jessica Denholm. Just two batters later, Danica Digel would touch home plate on a Paula Andel single. Shortly after reaching base, Andel would come around to score on a seeing eye double struck by Sadie Klingenberg.
The Hi-Liners would add two more runs in the second taking a demanding 5-0 lead. Behind the pitching of Danica Diegel, Valley City’s defense was solid. While the Bruins would finish the game with 13 hits, the Hi-Liners mowed down the lead runners allowing South just a run a piece in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.
The Hi-Liners would add three more runs to the scoreboard in the fifth and sixth before shutting out the Bruins in the final frame.
