Luella “Ginny” Homan departed for her next adventure Sunday, May 18, 2014 following a brief hospitalization. Her legacy remains.

Born July 17, 1923 in Erie, ND, she graduated from Erie Public School. Virginia earned a teaching certificate from Valley City State Teachers College. She taught in Hannaford, Fargo, and LaMoure, ND. 

Virginia was most generous with sharing her time and talents with the larger community. She was a prolific writer, artist, idealist, wife, mother and proud grandmother. Her creative endeavors included paintings, plays, programs, skits, and letters to the editor. She was active in the life of the LaMoure Presbyterian Church as an ordained Elder, Presbyterian Women, Bible Study and Circle. Over the years, she was active in P.E.O., Eastern Star, Homemakers Club, and Fortnightly. Other endeavors included serving as a Cub Scout leader and leading painting classes. 

For many years, Joe and Virginia loved to entertain friends and family in their home in LaMoure, ND and at the lake homes in Minnesota. 

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Alphias Mosher and Bertha Marie Johnson; her six brothers and sisters, Alfred, Ralph, Gertrude, Burdette, Ruth, and Arberta; and her husband of 55 years, Julian Simon “Joe” Homan. 

Survived by her four children; Susan Holli Homan Neidlinger, Little River, CA, Julian Thomas “JT” (Maryellen) Homan, Oakes, ND, Wade Scott Homan, Fargo, ND, Kurt Allan (Mary “Peg”) Homan, Minneapolis, MN; and grandchildren; Karl, Kristin, Zena, Spencer, Joshua, Caroline, Julian Peter, Philip, Caitlin, Chelsea, and Lee, and so far great-grandchildren Emma, Olive, Madeline, Asher, Ellery, Victoria, Ciara, Brett, William, Eli, and Joseph. 

Dear to Virginia were The Anne Carlsen Center in Jamestown, and Hospice of the Red River Valley, and the First Presbyterian Church of LaMoure.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, LaMoure. Visitation will continue from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday May 21, 2014 followed by her funeral at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, LaMoure, ND. Everyone is welcome to stay for lunch immediately following the service. Burial will be held at Rosehill Cemetery near LaMoure at 4:00 p.m.
