Valley City’s two doubles teams continued their EDC individual tournament on Saturday in Grand Forks.

 

Results for Sara Gilbertson/Sam Coit:

 

Consolation Quarterfinals:

Coit/Gilbertson defeated Freden/Wolff (West Fargo)

 

Consolation Semifinals:

Coit/Gilbertson defeated H.Wanzek/McGregor (Fargo Davies)

 

 

Consolation Championship:

Coit/Gilbertson lost to Jacobson/Wessman (Fargo North)

 

Sam and Sara were on fire during their first match against a very good West Fargo team.  That win qualified them for the state tournament for the second consecutive year.  They went on to make the consolation championship and ended up with the 6th seed from the East.  They will open up their individual tournament against the 3rd seed from the West next Friday in Bismarck.

 

 

Results for Clarissa Olson/Reagan Ingstad:

 

Championship Semifinals:

Olson/Ingstad lost to Anderson Caoili (Grand Forks Red River)

 

3rd Place Match:

Olson/Ingstad defeated Comeau/Sween (Grand Forks Central)

 

 

Clarissa and Reagan played their best tennis of the year in the Grand Forks Central match.  They served well, poached well, mixed up their games, and fought well.  They were clutch under pressure, winning multiple games when trailing 30-40.  They finished third place in the tournament.  Claire and Destiny finished 2nd last year and Valley backed that up with a 3rd this year with Claire and Reagan, who is an 8th grader!  Wow!  They will open up their individual tournament against the 6th seed from the West next Friday in Bismarck.
