CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) On the back of home runs from Paula Andel and Heather Knutson, the Hi-Liners softball team picked up their fifth win in a row in a 27-0 routing of Devils Lake.

The win advanced Valley City to 7-3 in the Eastern Dakota conference, and 16-6 overall.

The Hi-Liners got runs off of Devils Lake early and often. Valley City compiled a five run first inning. The games first home run came in the second inning, when Andel sent a monster shot over the fence in center field, to lift the home team to an 8-0 lead. An inning later, Knutson would follow suit with a two run homer of her own, in an eight run third inning.

On the mound, Jessica Denholm earned the win scattering six hits and allowing no runs in a complete game.

The Hi-Liners return home on Friday, May 16th, when they host Fargo Davies at 6:30pm in a one point EDC game.
