“Bill” McCann, 48, Oakes, ND, formerly of Scranton, ND, died Sunday, May 11th, 2014 in Palliative Care, Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.
William Patrick was born September 13th, 1965 in Oakes, North Dakota to Bernard and Patricia (Roney) McCann. He grew up in Verona, North Dakota, and graduated high school there. Following high school, he farmed on the family farm near Verona and worked at the Verona Farmers Elevator. For the past 14 years, he worked for Czywczynski Farms near Scranton and guided hunters for Dakota Winds Hunting Lodge. Bill loved hunting, fishing, his dogs BJ and Little Girl and gardening. He had a love and commitment to helping others. Bill’s physical heart was failing, but the part of his heart that loved, worked overtime. His talent for storytelling and sense of humor will be remembered by many. He loved his nieces and nephews dearly and was so proud of them.
Bill is survived by his brothers and sisters, Mike (Dana) McCann, Verona, ND, Colleen (Neal) McCoy, Jamestown, ND, Marlene (fiance’ Curt Bergemann), Fargo, ND, and Vernon (Shana) McCann, Fairfield, MT; and ten nieces and nephews, Patricia (Richard), Cameron, Heather, Stephanie, Nick, Erica, Taylor, Zach, Mason, and Elexis. He is also survived by his A.A. Family and many, many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Patricia McCann and a brother Roland.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Oakes. Burial will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery near Verona, ND and in Scranton, ND. An on-line guestbook may be signed at www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com.
