CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) Four more recruits signed to play for the Valley City State Football team in the fall.
The new recruits include Austin Erickson (linebacker) and Spencer Turck (offensive line) from Devils Lake High School, David Garcia (linebacker) from Bellaire, Texas, and Marvin Conley (cornerback) from Tampa Bay, Florida.
In his senior year with the Firebirds, Erickson earned All-EDC and Second Team All-State honors. He was also the team Co-MVP. His teammate, Turck was All-EDC Honorable Mention and won the team award for Outstanding Offensive Lineman.
Garcia, was named first team All-District Defense after his senior season in Bellaire. He finished the year with 64 tackles, and two interceptions.
Down in Florida, Conley recorded 71 tackles, and on the offensive side of the ball he had 21 receptions and three touchdowns.
The new recruits will join the Vikings when they open the 2014 season on Thursday, August the 28th under the lights against the University of Jamestown at Shelly Ellig field.
