Morehouse, 88, Valley City, died on May 9th, 2014 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday May 13th, 2014 at Grace Free Lutheran Church, Valley City, with Pastor Steve Mundfrom officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Valley City.

Visitation is from 4pm to 7pm Monday, May 12th, 2014 at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City. The family will be available for a time of fellowship from 6pm to 7pm at the funeral home. Visitation will also be available one hour prior to the service.

Alice Mary (Roesler) Morehouse was born on November 9th, 1925, in Napoleon, North Dakota, the daughter of Peter and Martha (Graf) Roesler. She grew up in the Jamestown area, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1946. She worked as a bookkeeper at the F.W. Woolworth store for one year. Alice then worked at the Crippled Children’s School (Anne Carlsen Center) under Dr. Anne Carlsen and operated an Addressograph machine making plates for the weekly newsletter.

She married Almond (Al) Paul Morehouse on October 25th, 1952 in Jamestown, ND. They resided in Jamestown from 1952 until 1962, where Alice continued to work at the Crippled Children’s School (Anne Carlsen Center).

Al and Alice moved to Valley City, ND in 1962, and lived there until 1999. Alice went to work for Paul Bjornson at the Bjornson Development Company; where she continued to work until her retirement in 1988. Alice then worked for Star Enterprises, along with her two sons, in Valley City from 1988 until 1999, where she played a major role in the operation of the family owned company. In 1999 she and Al moved to a farmstead near Spiritwood Lake, where they lived until moving back to Valley City in January 2008. She moved into the Sheyenne Care Center in April of 2010 and resided there until her death.

Alice has always been deeply involved with Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City where she was the Treasurer for over 25 years, participated in WMF, Faith Evening Circle, and various other church groups and activities.

Alice had a very deep love for her family, friends, and community. She so enjoyed the many hours spent at the farm with her grandchildren. One of her favorite things to do was to cook for her family and teach her grandchildren how to bake. Her deep faith in Jesus Christ showed those around her the true meaning of believing in God, her faith was truly her testament. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Alice is survived by her two sons: Mike (Loree) Valley City and Tom (Sara) Valley City; four Grandchildren, Taylor, Hannah, Tanner and Torrey Morehouse, all Valley City and two step-grandchildren, Josh and Sara Gilbertson, both Valley City, one sister Betty Engbrecht of Fargo and one brother Bill Roesler of Portland, Oregon along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Iva (Aldinger) and Irene (Krubeck), two brothers Ike and Clarence and a daughter-in-law Roxanne (Mike).
