With all of the rain and the New York trip, we haven’t been able to practice outdoors for a while.  Even so, in this week’s two double headers (2 matches were rescheduled matches due to weather) we are 4-0 as a team and 30-6 in individual matches.  That kind of a record over a four match week with all of the adversity is astounding.

If you would have asked me two years ago if Valley City could ever post that kind of record over four matches, I would have been lying if I said that not only is it possible, but we will do it within two years.

Today in the Shanley match, we were really pushed.  Our team had a girl go down with an ankle injury before the GFC match.  Our line-up had a new doubles team along with moving our #6 up to #5 which means we also had a brand new #6 today.  We fought through adversity and close matches.

I was very worried about half way through the second sets of the singles that we were going to through in the towel; we didn’t.  We fought and won taking 5 out of the 6 singles.  Its not the winning that makes me proud.  It is the effort, attitude, the will to win, and playing smart tennis that makes me proud and I am very proud of our team.  Claire, Sam, Sara, Reagan, Abby, Breanna, Cassidy, and Rachel – I am proud of everyone of them for what we accomplished last year and what we have accomplished so far this year.

Cassidy Fulton played against GFC in singles and won her first Varsity singles match.  Congratulations!

Breanna McDonald played her first two varsity matches today and won them both.  Congratulations!

Our doubles were again dominant today – going 5-1 on the day with the loss being a very good learning experience.  So much that I would bet on those two if we had another match before regionals.
