CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) Valley City State’s Brady Anderson has been named the North Star Athletic Association’s Player-of-the-Year.
The Vikings utility player could be seen at just about every position in the infield this year, but he was never more comfortable then when he had a bat in his hand. Anderson was the hardest out to get in the North Star as he hit for a league high .444 batting average. Not only was it a high mark for the North Star but just six player in the country were able to reach number higher the Vikings slugger.
In 149 bats this season, the Jamestown native had three home runs, 36 RBI’s and a on base percentage of .506. The best news for Vikings fans is that Anderson did all this in just his sophomore season of college baseball.
Along with the Player-of-the-Year award, Anderson was also named to the All-Conference Team as a utility player. Other Vikigns receiving that honor Include: designated hitter Cole Honor and Dan Buehner.
A fitting honor for Buehner who gave everything he had to the sport he loved. The Vikings lost Buehner earlier this year in a tragic accident.
Both, Corey Pudas and Bryce Venaas were named Honorable Mention as starting pitchers. Pudas also earned the Gold Glove Award for his fielding while teammate Kayl Hamre won the award for his play in left field.
The Vikings finished the season with a 19-29 record on the year. They were 9-9 in North Star games.
