(NewsDakota.com) The LaMoure-Litchville/Marion baseball team was in Casselton on Tuesday evening seeking to earn a victory in Class B Region I play after starting the season with an 0-2 mark.
The Loboes fell to 0-3 after a 12-1 loss to Central Cass in the opening game of a doubleheader, but rallied from nine down to win 10-9 in game two and salvage a split of the series.
In game one, LLM was hit early and often by the Squirrels. Central Cass (1-1 Class B Region 1) put up eight of their 12 runs in the first two innings on seven hits against Marcus Good’s pitching. Nick Holm surrendered just two hits in the five innings he threw.
Game two started similar to the first contest, with Central Cass pounding on the runs and hits; this time seven runs in the first inning, and another two in the fourth off of Anthony Olson. However, it would be Olson earning the victory in the end, as the Loboes rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fourth, and another five in the bottom of the seventh. Parker Stemen drove in Quinn Alo and Good with two outs, the bases loaded and a full count to give LLM their first regional win of 2014.
LLM’s Region 1 record now stands at 1-3. The Loboes welcome Kindred/Richland on Friday. The Vikings have won three consecutive Region I games in a span of two days; Monday against Oakes, and two on Tuesday at Northern Cass. Coverage on Q101.1 FM and NewsDakota.com starts at 4:45 p.m. with first pitch set for 5 p.m.
