(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School baseball team has started their inaugural season with a number in the win column, after defeating the LaMoure-Litchville/Marion Loboes 8-1 on Thursday afternoon at Cummings Field.
The newly minted Tornadoes (0-0 Region 1, 1-0 overall) trailed the visiting Loboes 1-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, after Anthony Olsen scored in the top half of the inning. In the bottom half of the fifth, Oakes responded with four runs off of Quinn Alo; which included a double from Kaleb Sell. In the sixth, the Tornadoes added another four off of LaMoure’s Parker Stemen. Jed Bopp and Mike Kelly each had doubles.
Grayson Roney earned the victory for Oakes, pitching three innings, allowing the lone run on three hits, while striking out four. Alo took the loss for LLM (0-0 0-1), going just one inning, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out one.
