Olaf G. Aune was born January 12, 1909 at Mosvik, Norway, the son of Oldus and Karen Aune.  He came to the United States with his family, April 10. 1910.

    He was raised on the farm and attended rural schools and graduated from Green Consolidated High School.  He earned his elementary and secondary degrees from Valley City State University, and also taught there one semester.  He earned a Masters Degree from Moorhead State University.

    Olaf taught in several rural schools in North Dakota, and was a member of the Valley City School system for eighteen years.  He served as principal of Washington Elementary school in Valley City for fifteen years.  He also taught several years in the California schools.  Later, he served as Department Manager of Grieger’s Lapidary Inc. of California for seventeen years.

    In April of 1942, he married Mildred Kvilvang in Fargo, ND.  She died March 4, 2001.

    Olaf died April 6, 2014 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, ND.  He is survived by his son, Warren (Deb) of New Rockford; his daughter, Andrea (Robert) Fine of San Clemente, CA; grandsons, Andrew (Sabrina) Fine and Robert (Sandra) Wilson; granddaughter, Emily Fine; step grandchildren, Amanda (Ross) Nelson and Cory (Trista Hill) Hagen; great grandchildren, Logan, Lea, and Braydon; step great grandchildren, Emilee, Parker, Caleb, and Mila; and several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred; sisters, Gusta (Martin) Nelsen, Jennie (Carl) Myhre, and Ragna (Glenn) Frederick; and brothers, Justin (Amanda), Ole (Millie), and Arne (Bessie).

    The funeral service for Olaf will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.  Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Valley City, later this spring.

    Visitation will be held at the chapel on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
