Block, 102, of Oakes, ND, formerly of LaMoure, ND, passed away on April 6, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes.

Eleanor Rasmusson, daughter of Ramus and Martina (Nesby) Rasmusson was born on June 9, 1911. She attended grade school at the Black Loam School near Fort Ransom, ND. Eleanor was united in marriage to Norbert Block January 20, 1933 at Fort Ransom. They farmed near Verona until the fall of 1933, when they moved with Norbert’s father to a farm near LaMoure. They were active in farming until March of 1990, when Norbert became ill. He passed away on June 24, 1990. Eleanor continued to live on the farm until that fall when she moved into town. Eleanor lived with her son Robert, both in LaMoure and later Oakes, before they became residents of the Good Samaritan Society.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Block and Neal (Shirley) Block all of Oakes; her daughter, Marlys (Eugene) Taszarek, Kulm, ND; three grandchildren, Trina (Brent) Schilling, Steven Taszarek, Mike (Sara) Taszarek; two step-grandchildren, Dusty (Jerry) Hollingsworth and Corey (Janelle) Montgomery; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexandria and Jared Schilling and Sophia, Ethan and Addison Taszarek; and four step-great-grandchildren, Dylan, Braden and Ashton Hollingsworth and Matthew Montgomery. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norbert, and her siblings.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, LaMoure. Her funeral will be Friday, April 11, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure, with Reverend Roy Noel officating. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery near Verona.
