(NewsDakota.com) The half foot of snow that came through the Oakes area on Monday evening has put a damper into what should be a busy time for Oakes High School athletics.

The inaugural game for the Tornado baseball team was set for Thursday, but now will have to wait at least a week, according to interim activities/athletic director Jason Schmitz. The baseball team was supposed to face Enderlin/Maple Valley on Thursday, and Northern Cass on Saturday; but now will play two regional seven-inning games when they meet later in the season.

The Oakes High School Track and Field teams will start their season on time Thursday, as they compete in a meet at the State College Of Science in Wapheton at 3 p.m, but a Saturday home meet looks to be called off as well.
