CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The accolades continue for Valley City State’s Brady Anderson who has been named NAIA Baseballs National Player-of-the-Week.

The Jamestown native is well deserving of the award having posted outstanding numbers in the Vikings six games last weeks, including a .593 batting average with four doubles, a triple and three home runs. His most outstanding performance came in the Valley City’s first win in a four game series with Dickinson State. In the Vikings 23-8 routing of the Blue Hawks, the sophomore slugger hit for the cycle, earning four hits, five runs and eight RBI’s. In their second win over Dickinson State, Anderson was just as aggressive at the plate finishing the game with four hits and five RBI’s.

Anderson’s batting has only improved on the year, he is now has a .467 batting average in 92 at bats. He has mustered up 20 runs, batted in 31 more, and has 10 doubles, four triples and three homers in 23 games. With just one more game needed to qualify Anderson for the nation leaders in batting average, it appears the Vikings sophomore will break into the top ten in his next game.

The Vikings are scheduled to travel to the University of Jamestown on Saturday, April 5th but with more snow likely through the week, it is possible that Anderson will have to wait to break into the top ten.
