CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) Valley City State has announced that Adam Longmore will become the 11th head volleyball coach for the Vikings.

For the past six seasons Longmore has been an assistant coach at Southern Utah University, an NCAA D1 school in the Big Sky Conference. Longmore helped build the Thunderbirds program after the school reinstated the volleyball team after a 20-year hiatus.

During his time with SUU, Longmore worked successfully with the Blockers. In 2012 his squad finished second in the Big Sky Conference and 27th in the nation in blocks per set.

Before working with Southern Utah, Longmore was the head coach at William Woods University for three years. William Woods University is a NAIA school located in Fulton, Missouri. Longmore earned his Bachelor’s degree from Utah State where he played and coached the men’s club volleyball team.

Longmore takes over the Vikings program after Susan Kolbow resigned from the position in January. Kolbow spent four seasons as the head coach of Valley City State.
