CITY, N.D (NewsDakota.com) The North Star Athletic Association has announced Valley City State’s Brady Anderson as Player-of-the- Week in Baseball and Vikings pitcher Lindsey White the Pitcher-of-the-Week in softball.
Both the Vikings Baseball team and softball team spent the week on March 17th in Tucson, Arizona opening up the 2014 season.
During that span, Anderson was strong at the plate getting 16 hits on 40 at bats (.400 batting average), including three doubles and two triples. The Jamestown native knocked in 10 runs during the week and scored five different times. In Sunday’s 12-2 win over Middlebury College, Anderson had four RBI’s.
On the softball diamond, White was the most effective weapon for the Vikings. She posted a 3-1 record on the mound allowing just five earned runs through 27 innings. In four games she struck out 17 batters and held an ERA of 1.30. White’s wins came against Tabor College, Avila College, and Oklahoma Baptist (who received votes in the NAIA top 25 Coaches Poll).
White is the second Viking pitcher in a row to receive the Pitcher-of-the-Week honors. Last Week Samantha Nalley received the same award for the Valley City State.
