N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Fire Department has seen an increase in the amount of carbon monoxide calls with and without carbon monoxide present.
According to Fire Chief Jim Ruether, it’s not uncommon for carbon monoxide detectors to malfunction.
“Our department has seen an increase in carbon monoxide calls with and without carbon monoxide present. Individuals are installing more of the carbon monoxide detectors and I believe that most people’s awareness levels has gotten better after hearing incidents involving carbon monoxide.” Chief Ruether stated.
The Jamestown Fire Department reminds residents to replace smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors every 8 to 10 years. It is also important to test detectors monthly and change batteries at least twice a year.
