N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The “Be The Match” event, a bone marrow registry drive for Josh Bond, was held on March 17th.

Josh, a 27 year-old from Jamestown, is currently battling leukemia and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Friends and family of Josh got together and started the bone marrow registry drive at the Anne Carlsen Center. Halie Mittleider, a family member of Josh, stated that the event was “exactly what we hoped for. We got more people to sign up than we could have imagined.”

The event brought in about 151 people. Even if they don’t correctly match the marrow tissue of Josh, they will still be put on a registry list to become a possible donor for someone else. The University of Jamestown will be hosting another “Be The Match” event for Josh on March 26th from 9 AM to 2 PM. Registration is free.
