CITY, IA (NewsDakota.com) – For the fourth time in five years the University of Jamestown women’s basketball team is headed back to the Round of 16. The Jimmies took care of 8th-seeded Roosevelt 80-59 in the opening round.

No Jimmie scored more than 12 and three were in double-figures. Megan Pold’s 12 points paced the Jimmies, she also grabbed mind boards. Jessica Buck had a double-double with 10 and 10.

Jamestown opened the game holding the Lakers 7:45 without a field goal. UJ had a 12-1 lead before Casey Davis hit the first Laker field goal.

The Jimmies ran their first half lead to 15, before heading into halftime up 37-23. Hannah Steele played just 2:52 in the first half after picking up her second foul 59 seconds into the game

The Round of 16 will be played at 5:15pm against Cardinal Stritch. The Wolves hammered St. Ambrose in the opening round with a 74-48 win. Stritch is 25-6 and holds a 2-1 record against common opponents. The Jimmies have 3-0 record against Roosevelt and Ashford.
