Ann Kjelland, 96, Valley City, ND passed away at her home on March 7, 2014 under the care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 10, 2014 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Valley City.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens later in the spring.

     Visitation will be held on Sunday at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00.

     Ann Marie Vitelli was born November 17, 1917 in St. Paul, MN to Jim and Carmen (Sporga) Vitelli.  Ann grew up and attended school in St. Paul.

     On October 16, 1954, she married Bernhard Kjelland.  They made their home in rural Barnes County, ND where they farmed together for many years.

         She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City and was active in Green Homemakers, 4H, and PTA.  Ann was an avid bowler.  Her greatest joy was family, especially being able to watch her beloved grandchildren grow up.  She also enjoyed having a cup of coffee and a good visit with friends.

     Ann is survived by her children, Patricia (David) Adam of Samammish, WA, Gregory Kjelland of Valley City, and Catherine (Joel) Bladow of Ft. Collins, CO; grandchildren, Brett (Adrienne) Adam, Brian Adam, Brandon Adam, Emily Kjelland, Eric Kjelland, Aaron (Megan) Kjelland, Kyle Kjelland, Maya Kjelland, Taylor Bladow, Dominique Bladow, and Mikayla Bladow; sister, Rose (Bob) Clausen; brother-in-law, Elton Kjelland; sister-in-law, Edna (Beta) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernhard; parents; brothers, Nick, Vick, Tony, Johnny, & Jim; sisters, Peirine Moy and Virginia Edmondson.
