CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Barnes County Ag Improvement Association 2014 Outstanding Agriculturalist is Mark Winter.
Winter graduated from North Dakota State College of Science with an Associate of Science degree in Agricultrural Mechanics/Farm Business Management. He joined the family farm partnership in 1987 and helped transition the farm operation from conventional til to no til, minimum til and vertical tillage.
Winter is a past recipient of the Barnes County Soil Conservation Award and has volunteered at the North Dakota Winter Show for almost 30 years. He has served on the Northern Canola Growers Association board, ND Certified Crop Advisory board, Barnes County Ag Improvement board, Barnes County Corn and Soybean Plot Committee and the Evergreen Coop Board.
His wife Andrea Winter graduated from NDSU with a degree in Food and Nutrition Dietetics and is a Licensed Registered Dietitian. She works with the Young People’s Healthy Heart Program at Mercy Hospital. He and Andrea have three children: Brenna, Ellie and Trevor.
Mark and Andrea received the recognition during the annual Winter Ag Social Friday, February 21 in Valley City.
