(NewsDakota.com)- After a one-year absence Linton-HMB is headed back to the Region III final and they will be joined by Strasburg-Zeeland. The two teams have played three times, they split their regular season games with Linton-HMB winning in the District 6 championship.
Strasburg-Zeeland 59, South Border 54
Nic Kramer and Brody Niewsma each had one big half and Scotti Sherr sprinkled in five triples to lead the Clippers to the title game. Strasburg-Zeeland knocked down seven threes in the first half, while South Border countered with six. The Clippers held a three-point lead into the break.
Niewsma’s 16 paced S-Z most of those came in the first half. Kramer saved 12 of his 14 for the second half.
Linton-HMB 77, Ellendale 54
Ellendale ran into a buzz saw. Everything went Linton’s way as they rolled past the Cardinals, stretching their lead to 41-22 at the half. With under a minute left before the break, Jonathan Purintun went to the bench with his second foul. Jordan Hulm scored five points in the final minute to push the lead to a game-high 19.
Adam White’s 20 lead all scores, but it wasn’t enough. The Cardinals didn’t really have a second offensive weapon and it cost them the ability to stay with Linton.
Linton-HMB and Strasburg-Zeeland will play Thursday night at 7:30pm in the Region III final with the winner going to next weekend’s state tournament in Grand Forks. The game will be broadcast on TED FM 98.3.
