(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School girls basketball season saw their 2013-14 regular season come to an end with a 55-48 win against the Lady Bison of Barnes County North on Friday night.
After starting the game down two points, the Lady Tornadoes went on a 6-0 run and established a 14-9 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Bison found momentum swing back in their favor in the second quarter; outscoring Oakes 14-9 to send the game to a 23-23 tie at intermission.
In the second half, Oakes started to pull away even more, at one time leading by as many as 12 en route to their fourth victory of the season. Lydia Hansen lead the Lady Tornadoes with 22 points, Shelby Gelinske had 14 points.
Oakes ends the regular season season with a 4-15 mark. Barnes County North finished the regular season with a record of 5-14.
Oakes will start competiton in the 2014 Class B District 1 Girls Basketball Tournament on Friday February 28 against Fairmount-Campbell-Titah in Campbell, Minnesota Days two and three of the tournament, March 1 and 3 respectfully, will be played in Lidgerwood.
