(NewsDakota.com) – It was senior night at the Jamestown Civic Center and the seniors showed up in a big way to lift their teams to dominating wins over Valley City State. The Jimmie women got 27 points and 14 assists from senior Hannah Steele as they ran away from VCSU, 108-72. Mark Hoge jump started a 20-4 run to open the second half with a three and never looked back en route to an 89-50 victory.
In the women’s game, the Jimmies trailed by eight early in the first half but once they caught fire it was over in a hurry for the Vikings. VCSU lead 30-22 before Jamestown sparked a run of 24-6 heading into halftime. Jessica Buck had eight of her 16 during the run.
Jamestown hit eight three-pointers in the second half as they poured it on. They scored 63 points in the second-half and all three seniors; Steele, Carly Jensen and Morgan Mathison were able to be checked out of the game one-by-one in the final minutes. Jensen added 10 points.
The Jimmie men picked up the first-ever North Star Athletic Association as they improved their record to 15-11 with their 10th straight win. Hoge had 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, which are right around his averages for the seven NSAA games so far.
Jamestown opened the game up 7-0 and never trailed. Four Jimmies were in double-figures Brequan Tucker, Taylor Newton and Jacob Havron finished behind Hoge’s 19. The Jimmies will end their regular season Saturday at Dakota State.
