N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Public Schools have been projected to reach a $1.8 Million deficit for the next school year.

Jamestown Public Schools Superintendent Robert Lech stated that currently the schools are working with an $800,000 deficit, but with tax shifts and the change in the funding formula and cap levies to property owners, funding has been a lot less than in past years.

Superintendent Lech stated that Phase 1 of the deficit reduction would try to reach an $800,000 goal. Lech also stated that the focus of Phase 1 would be to limit options and not eliminate programs.

The Jamestown Public School Board meets every first and third Monday of the month at 5:15 PM and the meetings are free and open to the public.
