N.D. Jamestown High School #1 team won the state LifeSmarts championship and will be representing North Dakota in the national competition. Jamestown High School’s #2 team took second place, and Kindred High School took third. All three teams have won the state championship in previous years.

The State Champion team members are: Kelsey Becker (Captain), Andrew Briedenbach, Zach Fossen, Alex Igl and Jessica Vandal.

Asked about the team’s secret for success, team captain Kelsey Becker said, “The great thing about LifeSmarts is that it provides you with lifelong knowledge that is necessary. Now I can finally say ‘I am going to Disney World.’ I’m very proud of our team’s accomplishment.”

Jamestown High School team coach Marchel Krieger said, “LifeSmarts is a very valuable program that I wish more schools could take part in and experience. We are very proud to have the chance to represent North Dakota at the national competition.”

The Jamestown high school students will represent the state in the national championship, which will to be held April 26-29, 2014 in Orlando, Florida.
