N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The North Dakota Chapter for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention recently won the 2013 “Chapter of the Year” – Small Market Award at their annual chapter leadership conference in Denver.

The N.D. Chapter was recognized for expanding the Out of the Darkness Community Walk to  7 statewide communities, starting a new in-home visitation program for newly bereaved, hosting the annual motorcycle run and golf tournament, and sponsoring a community event on living with Bi-polar Disorder.

The mission is to understand and prevent suicide through research, education and advocacy by reaching out to those with mood disorders and those who have been impacted by suicide. North Dakota loses someone to suicide every 4 days.
