W. Webster, 88, of Fullerton, ND, died just three days short of his 89
th birthday, on February 1, 2014, at the Oakes Community Hospital, after a brief illness.

Walter, the son of Roy C. and Lena (Uecker) Webster was born on February 4, 1925, on the family farm in Yorktown Township, Fullerton. Walter served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1947 on board the U.S.S. Huntington. His rank was 1st Class Boatsman. After his discharge he returned to the Fullerton area and continued to live his entire life in the area doing what he loved most, raising livestock and farming the land. He was united in marriage to Billee Newman on July 10, 1955 in the Fullerton Union Church. They were blessed with three children, Val Jo (1956), Bradley (1960) and Layna (1966).

Walter loved the land, animals, and nature, which were also instilled in his children. He was an avid gardener, always proud of his straight rows. He enjoyed participating in the Fort Ransom Sodbusters, Fullerton Betterment Threshing Bee, and the Leola, South Dakota Threshing Bee with his matched team of Belgians, “Beauty” and “Blondie”. He gave hay rides and sleigh rides, as well as taking many newly married couples on a buggy ride, and took more than a few horsemen to their final resting place with that same team of matched Belgians.

Walt was a member of the Fullerton Union Church. He served on the Yorktown Township Board for 25 plus years. He also served as Democratic precinct committeeman for 30 years.
