N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On January 28th, 2014, the city of Jamestown entered an agreement with Menards to build a Menards Home Improvement Store.

The city had begun the process of attracting a big box retailer after surveys showed a large amount of leakage in the home retail sector of the cities income. The developers have entered an agreement with the land owner to use roughly 20 acres of the entire 33 acres. Additional lots will be available for development as well. Mayor Katie Andersen stated that the decision had to be made by looking at many different factors.

Mayor Andersen also stated that Menards would be financing everything else in the agreement. From the infrastructure to the roads leading to Menards, all of it will be taken care of. Even though the city is in an agreement with Menards, it does not mean that Menards will be here. There are still many negotiations that need to be made between the city and with Menards.

Menards doesn’t usually give a hard open date but have committed to having a Menards open by July 1st, 2016, if they are able to meet all the contract requirements.
