Timothy Kaim, age 62 of Watertown, SD died Saturday Feb. 1, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday Feb. 6 at the Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City, ND with Rev. Dayne Zachrison officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo Cemetery at Buffalo, ND later in the spring. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday.

     Timothy Fredrick Kaim was born on Dec. 23, 1951 the youngest of 4 children born to Conrad and Catherine Kaim. He was raised and educated in Buffalo, ND. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Valley City State College in 1973.

     Tim’s early teaching assignments were in Wimbledon, ND and Sisseton, SD before completing his Master’s Degree from the University of South Dakota in 1979. From 1979 to 1982 Tim was employed by the Roseberg Public Schools in Oregon.

     In the Fall of 1982 he started what would become a 28 year career teaching in US Department of Defense Schools. While most of that tenure was in Germany, he also taught on bases in Korea and Newfoundland.

     Tim loved working with children. As a lifelong educator, he was especially drawn to those students with special needs.

     Tim was an adventurous and independent person by nature. He loved to travel and experience new things. He was a knowledgeable horseman and enjoyed trail riding, especially during summer breaks in North Dakota. Tim had a fondness for music that included a variety of styles. He had an interest in photography and framing and enjoyed chronicling family history in pictures. Tim was nicknamed “Chief” by his teammates on the Buffalo Independent Basketball Team during his college years.

Surviving Tim are his mother, Catherine Kaim, Valley City, ND, a brother Charles Kaim, Wahpeton, ND, two sisters, Edie (Dick) Cole, New Salem, ND and Connie (Kal) Boyd, Buffalo, ND, two nieces, Kristy Stockert and Landi Schock, and three nephews, Kory Cole, Lonn Boyd, and Lance Boyd.
