(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School boys basketball team secured home court advantage for round on of the District 1 tournament late next week, and picked up a pair of wins over the weekend; while the girls team continued to struggle.

On Friday night, the boys of Oakes earned an 81-69 victory against Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah to secured the #3 seed in the upcoming tournament. Oakes scored a season high total number of points in the contest, and had four players in double figures; lead by Ethan Zetocha with 24 points. The Tornado boys also were victorious against Britton-Hecla South Dakota on Saturday 66-63. Oakes is now 8-9 overall.

The Lady Tornadoes also competed in South Dakota against Britton-Hecla on Saturday but lost 46-32. The girls are now 3-12 overall this year.

Boys Oakes teams will play in Enderlin on Tuesday evening against the Eagles. Coverage will start at 5:45 on KDDR 1220 AM/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com, with the girls game set for a 6 p.m. start time and the boys to follow.
