Bernard Edward Wagner, 88, Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away January 31st, 2014, at his home. Bernard was born January 15th, 1926, in Jamestown, North Dakota, the third son of Henry Michael and Nellie Margaret (Kiner) Wagner. He attended rural Eldridge School # 4 graduating from St. John’s Academy in Jamestown in 1944. He married Delores Irene Kupper on June 19th, 1946, at the Basilica of St. James, Jamestown. They built a home north of Eldridge, where he started in dairy, expanding into grain farming and ranching. After 62 years they retired to Jamestown. Bernard and Delores enjoyed traveling and spent 22 years wintering in Arizona. During the course of their marriage they had 10 children. Bernard served on the Eldridge Township Board, the Eldridge School Board, was a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks and the Eagles. He was a leader of the Fort Seward 4-H club, receiving the 25 year Distinguished Leadership Award. He also promoted the 4-H Foreign Exchange program and was on the Stutsman County Weed Board to control leafy spurge. Bernard had a love for fruit and vegetable gardening, especially his small apple grove in which he experimented with grafting several different varieties. He enjoyed beekeeping, wood working, and collecting toy tractors. He liked taking his children and then grandchildren to search for the first crocuses in spring and bringing home wild tiger lilies for Delores. Bernard is survived by his wife and 10 children, David, Colorado Springs, CO; Dennis (Tam), Fargo, ND; Timothy (Cindy), Sidney, MT; Marianne Minyard, Houston, TX; Mark (Sandy), Jamestown, ND; Angeline (Tom) Koenig, Lawrence, KS; Ronald (Pam), Nashville, TN; Karla (Larry) Bucholz, DeBary, FL; Nola (Larry) Hilde, Ada, MN; Jon (Sue), Fargo, ND; 30 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marlene Wagner, Lacey, WA, and Fay Domek, Custer, SD; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and Ralph, and an infant daughter Bernadette.
