Daniel Austin Peterson was born February 1, 1968, at Mercy Hospital, Valley City, ND, the son of Maxine (Ussatis) and Orvis Peterson of Nome, ND. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Nome. Daniel attended school in Fingal, ND and transferred to Enderlin (ND) High School where he graduated in the class of 1986. He worked in Valley City as a teenager at Hardee’s, the Valley City Public Library and Leevers. Daniel attended Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, ND for one year and then went to Heritage Park, NC, and worked as a lifeguard. After returning from North Carolina, he moved to Minneapolis. He worked at various jobs and most recently at United Health Care.

     Daniel is survived by his parents, sisters, Jill (Kermit) Pederson, Fingal; JoNell (Duane) Schaefer, Valley City; brothers, Randy Peterson, Nome, Joel (Renee) Peterson, Ogema, MN, Michael (Mary) Peterson, Nome; nieces and nephew, Tiffany (Clint) Jewett, Valley City, Kristen Peterson, Enderlin, Johnathan Peterson, Nome, and Olivia Pederson, Fingal. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

     He was preceded in death by his grandparents, August and Helen Ussatis, and Carl and Christine Peterson; and a nephew, Matthew Schaefer. Daniel died at his home in Plymouth, MN.

    NOTE:  The memorial service for Daniel Peterson on January 4 has been postponed on account of weather.  We will publish the rescheduled date when it is announced.

     A memorial service for Daniel will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 2 pm at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, with Rev. Bradley Edin officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service in the chapel. Burial will be in the spring in St. Petri Cemetery, rural Nome.
