Gary L. Dame, 72, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Fargo, ND, died on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Sanford Health, Fargo. Gary Lawrence Dame was born on April 30, 1941, in Langdon, ND, the son of Bert and Vivian (Hendricksen) Dame. He grew up near McVille, ND and graduated from high school. Gary served his country as a member of the US Marines. After his discharge, Gary owned and operated Gary’s Motorcycle Repair Shop in Fargo. He married Shirlie J. Wagner in 1982 and they lived in Fargo. Gary later worked for Ma’s Cycles where he specialized in motorcycle restoration. Shirlie passed away in 2002. Gary and Sandra Ruff were married on August 29, 2002 in Jamestown and they made their home in Fargo for a few years. After he retired, they moved to Jamestown where he worked for O’Reilly Auto Parts. He and Sandra cherished the company of their cat, Buddy. Gary’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, riding and restoring motorcycles. He especially enjoyed his Triumph bike. Gary is survived by his wife, Sandra Dame, Jamestown; three children, Philip (Heather) Dame, Minooka, IL, Valerie Ayala, South Beloit, IL, and Brenda Walters, Bakersfield, CA; nine step-children, Val (Rick) Mickelson, Steve (Dawn) Ruff, Brett (Amy) Ruff, Bonnie (Todd) Page, Marcy Deede, Michelle (Keith) Schumacher, John Ruff, Teresa (Ben) Kennelly, and Bridgette (Chad) Altringer; 32 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Carol (Steve) Johnson, Worthing, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2013 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown. Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown. Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
