Thelma Josephine Landon, age 97, died peacefully Sunday, December 22, 2013 surrounded by family.

     She was born to the late Andrew and Thea Gussiaas on October 8, 1916, in Nordmore Township on the east central plains of North Dakota. Thelma would find her lifelong partner in Ara Neil Landon. On June 19, 1949, they married at the Kvernes Church in rural Carrington, North Dakota. Together, Ara and Thelma proudly raised three daughters and one son. Thelma’s life was her family, home and farm. She was deeply involved in the Kvernes church, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. Thelma served as the church treasurer of the cemetery board for more than 20 years. She will be most remembered for her baking and cooking.

     Thelma is survived by her three daughters: Sandra Jean Leopoldt, Sheryl Jane Woehl and Sharla Joan Landon-Beithon. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

     She was preceded in death by her husband Ara and son John.

     In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to go to Kvernes Lutheran Church.

     Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 10:30AM in Kvernes Lutheran Church, rural Carrington, ND.

     A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, December 27, 2013 at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

     Burial will be in Kvernes Lutheran Cemetery, rural Carrington.
