(NewsDakota.com) The Carrington girls basketball team as well as the wrestling team were both in action over this past weekend. The girls basketball team played a make-up game on Saturday against Napoleon. The game was originally scheduled for last Thursday, but due to poor weather conditions, the game was moved to noon on Saturday. Carrington beat the Imperials 82-48 and improve to 2-0 on the season, Napoleon drops to 1-2. The wrestlers were on the road for the Linton Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Carrington came away with the Linton Tournament Championship and four individual champs as well.

The Cardinals welcomed the reigning Region 3 Champs from last year to the Carrington High School Gymnasium on Saturday. Kayla Hochhalter led the assault for Carrington with 27 points followed by Jacey Engelhorn with 24 and Brooke Rosenau added 15 as the Cardinals ran away with an 82-48 victory. The Cardinals held the Imperials to only 16 halftime points. Leading the way for Napoleon was Shania Gross with 17 and Maria Jangula with 12.
Next up for Carrington will be a doubleheader this Friday at home against Grafton. Girls Varsity will tip-off at 2:30pm, boys will tip-off at 5:30pm, expect pregame coverage about 20 minutes before each game on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com.
Carrington Wrestlers – Linton Tourney Champs
The Cardinal wrestling team has started 2013 very strong, they’ve competed in three tournaments so far this year and have won all three including the Velva, Carrington and Linton Tourneys. In each of the Tourneys, Carrington has had at least four individual champions. They are 5-0 in duals and have three wrestlers who are undefeated, Joe Bakke, Patrick Freeman and Walker Carr have yet to lose a match this year. Carrington is ranked number one right now in the state for Class B wrestling, second place is Lisbon followed by South Border.
Carrington had a total of 232.5 points to win the Linton Tourney over the weekend, followed by South Border with 188.5, Oakes 172, Napoleon 147.5 and rounding out the top five was Minot Bishop Ryan with 135. Other notables, the host team Linton-HMB placed seventh with 95.5 points, Harvey placed 14th with 46.5 points. Here are the individual results:
