Violet Colberg, 100, Jamestown, ND, died Monday, December 16, 2013 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown. Violet Mae Hollingsworth was born November 27, 1913 at Nortonville, ND, the daughter of James Richard and Mary Jane (Glover) Hollingsworth, the first child born in the town site of Nortonville. She was raised and attended school in Nortonville, graduating from Nortonville High School. She was baptized in the United Methodist Church in Nortonville. On December 19, 1941, she married Virgil Colberg at LaMoure, ND and they made their home in Nortonville where Virgil was the Roadmaster of the Midland Continental Railroad. Violet was a volunteer 4-H Leader in LaMoure County for 17 years. During World War II, she was appointed as an inspector for the Office of Price Administration in LaMoure County. She served on the Nortonville School PTA Board, assisting in writing the by-laws for the association. She was a correspondent for the Edgeley Mail from 1941 to 1987 and a correspondent for the Jamestown Sun from 1941 to 1985. In 1998, she quilted the block for the North Dakota Centennial quilt representing Kennison Township, LaMoure County. She also served as assistant Post-Mistress in Nortonville. On January 2, 1987, Virgil died and in the fall of 1989, she and her son moved to Jamestown, ND, where she did volunteer work at the Frontier Village, Jamestown Civic Center, the Anne Carlsen Center, several churches and Special Olympics. Violet enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts, quilting and gardening. Survivors include her son, James Edward, Jamestown, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 5 brothers: Fred, Thomas, Percy, Cyril and Ralph; and a sister, Florence Bergman.

     Funeral – To be held at a later date at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.

     Visitation – 3:00P.M. to 5:00PM, Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND.

     Interment – Nortonville Cemetery, Nortonville, ND in the spring.
