Marie Frances Baumgartner, 74 of Valley City, died December 18th surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Mass will be recited at 2 PM Saturday December 21 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr. Dennis Skonseng celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM Friday December 20 at Lerud-Schuldt Funeral Home with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Barnesville, MN.
Marie was born on January 28th, 1939 in Fargo, ND to Sylvester and Albertina (Gerbing) Kieselbach. She grew up in Barnesville,, MN. She was baptized, confirmed and married in Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville. She attended Assumption School and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1957 with perfect attendance for 12 years. Marie was one of the first employees of the original Barnesville Dairy Queen. She worked at the Fargo National Bank after high school , the Valley City Eagles Club, and Homespun Charm and the Nearly Nu Store.
Marie was united in marriage to Merlin Baumgartner on April 11th, 1959 in Barnesville, MN. They made their home in Valley City, N.D.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her greatest joys were her three grandsons, Jordan, John and Lucas. Marie cherished her wonderful friends, she considered them to be part of her family.
She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Valley City; the North Dakota Winter Show Women’s Division; Homemakers Club, and Craft Club. Marie volunteered at the Nearly Nu Store since 1965. She enjoyed sewing, watching the trains, flowers and coffee with her friends.
She is survived by her husband Merlin of 54 years, her daughter Debbie (Marlynn) Lunde, Woodbury, MN; her Son Todd (Roxanne) Baumgartner, Litchville, ND; grandsons Jordan (Allison) Lunde, Chaska, MN; John Baumgartner and Lucas Baumgartner, Litchville, ND; sister Betty (Bob) Ishaug, Barnesville, MN; Sister-in-laws Kay Kieselbach, Dilworth, MN; Dorothy Kieselbach, Park Rapids, MN; Marilyn Ostlund, Fergus Falls, MN and Darlene Gustman, West Fargo, ND; brother-in-law Donald Baumgartner, Erhard, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her grandson Garrett Lunde, parents, her sister Agnes (Cliff) Cook, and brothers Raymond, Bernard & Benedict Kieselbach and nephew Delbert Cook.
